This novel take place during the Civil War, it tells of the hardships before and after the War. It took place in Terra at the O’Hara’s plantation in Georgia.

                The main character and the protagonist is Scarlett O’Hara. Scarlett is in love with a man who does not love her back and he is getting married. Scarlett has many other problems too, the fact she marries men she doesn’t love and then there is the Rhett Butler.

                The antagonist is Rhett Butler, he is in love with Scarlett and knows many of her secrets but Scarlett does not love him back.

                Ashley is the man Scarlett wishes to marry. But he is engaged to Melanie (his cousin) and he loves her not Scarlett.

                  Scarlett O’Hara’s life is very complicated in this book. She faces many problems with love in this novel and doesn’t know what to do, she ends up marring men for the wrong reasons even though she only loves one man. She gets re-married many times bringing shame to her family. When her mother and father die she is faced to take over the family and take care of the finacial part and she has to keep her family safe from the Unionists. During the war she is forced to steal and kill to keep her families’ land and to keep her sisters safe.

I loved this book because i enjoyed seeing how life was like for women back is the 1860’s. I enjoyed the love problems she faces with Ashley and Rhett. This book really captivated my attention.
