Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry is a story of courage and overcoming predjudice. The main characters are Cassie, Christopher John, Stacy and “Little Man” Logan, four black siblings living in
Mississippi during the 1930s. They live on a lot of land surrounded by white families, who are very racist against the
Logans. Day by day, the
Logans face this predjudice, and Cassie learns that some people are so full of hatred towards people like herself. Cassie also realizes that that isn’t the case for every white person. Jeremy Simms, a white boy, doesn’t like segregation, and enjoys the
Logan family and walks with them to school, completely against his parents, and he was often whipped or hit for it. A story full of adventure, hope, and the importance of family, Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, is a great book.
